Chelsea Skate Competition (August 1st, 2001)

Report by Nick Danchuk

The Chelsea Street Competition was great! There were many people there and every skater. I was the eight-teenth skater out of twenty and I was very nervous by time I got to skate.

The park was neat. It had lots of rails and funboxes (my favorites), so I couldn't wait until my session. When it was finally my turn to skate, I knew exactly what I was going to do. I skated hard down the ramp and landed a quick soul grind to makio to revert on a hand-rail. I think my best trick was a 540 mute grab off the kicker ramp. The best trick I saw the whole day was a zero spin front-flip by another competitor. In my run, I also did some of my own tricks like the "crosshair" and "rosha manual combo". In the end, I got a score of 8.2 and ranked 9th.

This was an awesome experience for me and I had a lot of fun. All of the competitors were good sports and everyone got along.
