for the first time in its lifetime pure skateboarding in street and vert.
Stadio dei Marmi was officially build for the 1960 Olympic games in Rome.
Red Bull has provided the 18m kingsize vert-ramp for the international
vert circus: local hero Giorgio Zattoni showed nice Mc Twists and huge
backside airs, as well as stylish disasters in front of the Italian crowd.
Jussi Korhonen from Finland became third with clean 360 indy grabs, and
backside indy flips 540 flips. Mathias Ringstrom from Sweden showed
excellent heel stalefishes, double varial flips and his perfect frontfoot

overall winner in vert 2006 in Europe!
Friday started with the prequalification in street that was held in a jam
format, three skateboarders skate three minutes long together. Also for the
girls it was time to run a qualification. A new face was Sascha Smirnova
from Moscow, Russia. With a nice frontside boardslide on the small rail she
was a surprise and ended being 5th. Sabrina Goggel from Germany did heelflip
transfers over the small box and backside kickflips in the quarter and got
4th. Also Kristina Westad skating for etnies girl in Norway became 3rd with
a nice backside heelflip over the big hip and a boardslide on the small
rail.
Evelien Bouilliard has the most wonderful style and with a backside
boardslide on the big rail and smooth backside 180s over the hip, she earned
the second place. But nothing could beat the skills of Ianire Elorriaga, who
showed kickflips over the main hip and a frontside tailslide on the big
quarter and therefore won the etnies girls push jam. Ianire is also overall
winner of the girls with her 3rd place in Munich and winning the European
Skateboard Championships in Basel. More about that at

qualified first with almost skating all three minutes through. One of the
young guns is also 12-year old Theo Derrien from Lyon, France doing perfect
backside lipslides on the big rail, he also won the Junior Champs in Basel
in his age group this year.
Orbited by enormous statues and with more than 5000 spectators in the Stadio
dei Marmi the finals took place. Twelve skateboarders competed in 60-seconds
runs. Helder Lima from Portugal, caught already everybodyıs eye at the
European Skateboard Championships and in the finals he did frontside crooks
over the big rail, frontside flips up the gap and smooth nose grinds on the
big rails and got 9th in the end. Rachid Addou from the Netherlands became
